Put Down the Second CD!

Every Tuesday evening, two pillars studio is a whirlwind of audio activity as our acid-jazz/noise-rock group Put Down the Muffin has been writing and recording our new as of yet untitled second album. We're about three songs in at this point and everything is really sounding good. So far the songs we have recorded are...
1. Huba Guba
2. Nightline News
3. OOL

It's always tough attempting to record multiple projects at once but we seem to be finding our rhythm. It is also a real treat to have Charlie Peterson on board with us in the recording process. What do you know, a "real" keyboard player!

Jason Gray radio remix

Last year I produced an album for Centricity Records artist Jason Gray. The last track of the record is a cover of the song Everything I Own, originally written, performed and recorded by my old band pegtop. They decided that they'd like to release this beautiful little piece to radio but wanted to retool the song to better prepare it as a single. So, I have the unique challenge of making this song, which is kind of the antithesis of pop music, radio ready without losing the integrity of the message of the song. I am happy to say it is coming along nicely. We've added many beautiful moments instrumentally and vocally. I played it for Terry, pegtop's drummer and he really enjoyed it. In the retooling process I have had Zach Miller in to recut the drums and Elizabeth Hunnicutt in to give her "human keyboard" vocal stylings to the tune. I am hoping to mix it this week and it will soon be hitting the airwaves at a radio station near you.

If you would like to hear Jason's album version (and haven't yet purchased his CD) simply go to his website (www.jasongraymusic.com) click on "Launch Jukebox" and scroll through the tunes till you find "Everything I Own."
